Terms of service

Last updated 2026-05-31

These Terms govern your use of Hoursmith. By creating a workspace or using the service, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and the organization you administer.

The deal

Hoursmith is a hosted time-tracking and invoicing tool. You use it to track time and send invoices to your own clients. You stay in control of your data. We provide the software and try our best to keep it running.

Account responsibility

You're responsible for what happens under your account — keep your password safe, invite people you trust, and double-check what you send to clients (we don't review invoices before they go out).

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Hoursmith to:

Payment

Paid Hoursmith plans bill as a flat fee per workspace in advance. Stripe handles subscription billing — see /privacy. You can change plans, change interval, or cancel anytime from /settings/billing. Cancellations default to end-of-period; we don't refund for partial periods.

Client payments

When you enable online invoice payments, your clients pay through Stripe Connect into your connected Stripe account. Hoursmith does not hold or route those funds. You are responsible for your client relationships, invoice accuracy, taxes, refunds, disputes, and any payment terms you agree with your clients.

Your content stays yours

We don't claim ownership of anything you put into the product. You grant us a limited license to store and display it so the service can do its job (showing your workspace, sending invoices on your behalf).

Export and deletion

Workspace Owners can export workspace data and request deletion from account settings. Closing a workspace cancels the active subscription, clears stored email-provider credentials, and removes the workspace from normal product views. Some records may be retained where needed for security, billing, audit, or legal obligations.

Service uptime

We aim for high uptime but provide no formal SLA at this tier. Maintenance windows and short interruptions can happen.

Disclaimers

Hoursmith is provided as is. We disclaim warranties to the extent permitted by law. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes get a notice 30 days in advance via the contact email on your account.
